“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
–Thomas Jefferson
So often we search for positive change in our lives. We want new things, we strive for enlightened feelings which will improve us emotionally and mentally or we ascertain to improve our relationships with those around us. Sometimes, we just want change – change of job, friends, family, routines and life in general. It all gets a bit much sometimes and as we avoid burning out or snapping, we are forced into doing things we wouldn’t do in a peaceful state of existence. It’s this vortex we want to avoid at all costs.
We are so often stuck in a routine that it seems impossible to make the changes because of financial or operational constraints. One of my favourite quotes for us human beings is: “If you are not happy with where you are then move, you’re not a tree.” The monotonous routine you are living in is a self-made schedule and it only seems ineradicable because of the security and comfort of not moving or making changes.
With life-changing choices comes the fear of the unknown and the “what if”. What if it doesn’t work? What if we don’t make enough money? What if the children will be unhappy? What if we fail? What if … ?
What if you finally find joy again? What if it was the best decision you made? What if it draws you closer to your loved ones? What if … ? Perspective is everything my friends. There are various ways to look at these possibilities. With faith in God to bless His direction for your life and with boldness, dedication and consistency, you can alter your life anytime you want to and especially when you need to.
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.”
- Psalms 37:4 NLT
