How to see the good in the bad

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world!”

– Mahatma Gandhi

When you open your curtain in the morning, don’t you feel that what you see can affect what you feel? For me, opening the curtain to morning sunshine makes me feel a lot more excited about my day than opening that same curtain to a gloomy, rain-filled or overcast day.

This same outlook on life is what sets us off on different emotional tangents. Take any scenario you will be involved in today, really concentrate on how you view each situation and keep a tally of how you react. We all have the choice in these moments to view the light in them or to see the gloom. The people around that are constantly positive are the same people that will find the light in each situation. The ones that are constantly complaining, feeling unhappy or are depressed, are the ones that open up a dark, ominous outlook in each situation.

We all get dealt great cards, just like we are dealt bad hands. Don’t feel like life has it out for you by playing the victim. Although others come across as if things are always going their way, the very opposite is true. What makes these positive people come across as successful, is their ability to take the goodness out of each situation, even if it’s bad.

“This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

– ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:14-16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

No matter what you see when you open your curtains today, promise yourself that you will find the good, positive light in every situation you encounter today. Even if you find yourself in a negative place, pull out the sunshine and watch the rainbow illuminate.
