“The first and greatest victory is to conquer yourself.”
–Plato
It’s never easy to overcome a tragic event in our lives! During the pain and sorrow we suffer as we go through it, there are always emotions of anger and disappointment in someone or the circumstance itself.
We, as human beings, will never fully be able to comprehend the reasons why certain things happen. All we can do is justify what happens by saying things like: ”Everything happens for a reason,” or “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger!”
No matter what we tell ourselves or how others try to comfort us, the emotions and notions of the natural reactions of our minds and bodies are sometimes uncontrollable. We are ushered by our Heavenly Father to put our full faith in Him and not allow the anger and frustration of the situation to allow us to behave in a manner that goes against the Will of God.
We are not to take revenge on others or act on these negative emotions. Instead, we need to convert them into a positive beginning, using it as fuel to grow through the pain and move forward with a renewed strength. Once you are able to master this attribute, you will draw closer to God and embrace each new challenge thrown your way.
“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
– Romans 12:19-21 NIV
Life will ALWAYS bring exigent circumstances your way! Learn to overcome them by taking the lesson and moving on, no matter how painful they might be.
