I learned that courage was not the absence of fear but the triumph over it. – Nelson Mandela
I believe that triumph over fear comes through courage. I believe that boldness and faith will allow you to overcome any obstacle. I believe that anything is possible when we have God on our side. What do you believe?
That difficult situation you have in front of you right now – what is stopping you from overcoming it? Is it fear, pain, anxiety, incapacity, lack of wisdom, or simply laziness? Somebody once told me: “No one is coming to help you, it’s you against the world, so get up and get going”!
I must be honest, as difficult as it was to hear those words, there was truth and clarity in them. Obtaining success becomes a personal journey of self-achievement. Whether you are in the valley or on the mountain, you are mostly alone when you are there. Yes, there will be times when a friend or family member comes to your aid, but they’re not there permanently. At some point, you must stand on your own two feet and walk alone.
Fortunately, we are never truly alone. We ALWAYS have access to our relationship with our Provider, Redeemer and Saviour. Not once in my journey of self-recovery and sanctification was I alone. In fact, had I been alone, I can guarantee that I wouldn’t be the man I am today. Every dark place, cold corner, and sad situation I found myself in, my God was my confidant, my shoulder to cry on, my great protector and source of inspiration. My metamorphosis from failure, remorse, and guilt came through His Wisdom and Compassion. Without His Hand of Mercy over me, the jaws of the lion that roams the plains of this earth would’ve devoured me.
This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
- Joshua 1:9 NLT
