“Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.”
– Robert H. Schuller
How many times a day do you worry about what you don’t have? How often do you ponder on those problems that are hovering around you? Finances, health, family, and everything else. There is always an issue about something in our lives that we must deal with. This problem is put in our lives to teach us a lesson but also to distract us from what we have.
When Jesus was with His disciples after they found out about the death of John the Baptist, they didn’t have time to mourn because they were bombarded by the appearance of a crowd containing 5000 people. It was late in the day and everyone was hungry so Jesus asked His disciples to move around the crowd and see what everyone had to eat, so that it could be shared.
There was a large problem at hand, yet Jesus was able to take what they had and use it to solve the problem of a hungry crowd. What did they have? Well, they had two fish and five loaves of bread. Yet with the power of our God, He was able to feed all 5000 people. Let’s take a lesson from this. When trying to solve the issues you deal with daily, why not take a look at what you already have and rely on the power of God to solve your main issues?
“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
– Isaiah 46:4 NIV
Gratitude, mixed with faith is the recipe required for a fulfilled life. Show appreciation for what you have and pray for what you don’t. It’s easy to say thank you, but difficult to control what we don’t know the outcome of. Leave the difficult stuff for God, He wants you to.
